While the color scheme of CoTweet may seem plain to some, because CoTweet is targeting companies instead of the average Internet user, the clean and professional color scheme is an appropriate choice. Also, because CoTweet incorporates so much whitespace into its design, it is able to feature a lot of information without appearing cluttered.

In addition to prominently featuring its service and key features, CoTweet also provides its visitors with additional engaging features by displaying their recent news and Tweets at the bottom of the page.

As a website targeting visitors who are interested in harnessing the power of Web 2.0 video properties, it should come as no surprise that Sharethrough has a bright and eye-catching design.

The element of this website that makes it stand out from many others is its slide box. By incorporating the slide box, not only is Sharethrough able to engage visitors with an interesting feature, but it is also able to maximize the screen real estate of their home page.

Additionally, thanks to the use of whitespace, the body of the website is able to provide a large amount of information without appearing cluttered or sloppy.

Most visitors expect candy related websites to be colorful and fun. Through the use of their clean layout and color scheme, Candy Bouquet International achieves this goal without making their site cluttered or tacky.

The area where this site is really successful is using its space to convert visitors into customers. By featuring multiple products on its home page and having prominent links that allow visitors to begin the ordering process, Candy Bouquet International is able to increase the probability of visitors actual placing an order instead of simply clicking the back button on their browser. The large subscribe box at the bottom right of the home page is also an excellent way to help increase customer retention.

Not only is its name the epitome of a Web 2.0 site, but so is its design. When the home page first loads, visitors are greeted with a bright header that features large animated characters.

Below the header, the site is divided into a three-column layout. Although some three-column layouts can look too cluttered, the use of whitespace helps gugafit to avoid this problem.

In addition to providing information about its services in the first row of columns, gugafit also incorporates some dynamic features into its second row by showing their latest news post and Tweets. Also, adding multiple contact options in the far right column of the second row ensures a good user experience for visitors.

As a website that is advertising design services, Hyperpixel has a certain standard to meet, and it has definitely accomplished that goal with its website. The dark border around the clean, white body of the site quickly draws visitors’ attention directly to the content of the site.

In addition to succeeding at using a simple but elegant color scheme, the other area where this site stands out is its use of the sliding portfolio box near the top-right side of the page. By incorporating the sliding box, Hyperpixel is able to show off multiple pieces of its work without overcrowding the page.

When the home page loads, the elements that appear most prominently are the two boxes near the top of the page. In addition to the static box on the the left side, the box on the right side maximizes its screen real estate by scrolling through multiple testimonials.

The other area where this website excels is its background. Although many backgrounds that are made from an image are too distracting or overbearing, this background does a great job of maintaining a balance between being aesthetically pleasing without overpowering the content of the site.

The header features a simple a logo (which includes the same paper crane that is used as the favicon for the website), as well as four navigational tabs that are clearly labeled.  The dark blue used in the header grabs visitors’ attention and directs it towards the most important element of the site (the slider box).

The most notable feature of this website is the slide box.  It is effectively used to provide five pages worth of information on a single page of the site.  Because it features the smooth sliding transition as well as colorful graphics on each tab, users find this to be an engaging and useful feature.

Although the body’s not flashy, the two column body does its job by providing an ample amount of information without being cluttered.  Below it, the dark blue of the large footer helps to tie together the entire website.

As the website for a high energy PR conference, PRVille does a great job of conveying their high energy approach through their bold website design. While this colorful of a site would not be appropriate for many types of sites, not only is it an appropriate choice for PRVille, but it is one that tells visitors exactly what kind of conference PRVille is (before they even start reading).

Additionally, while the colorful design at the top of the site pulls in visitors’ attention, the information in the body of the site is cleanly laid out and free of any distractions.
